Slight change - this was Day 2 not 3 - we rode up into Pyrennes instead of to the coast. St Jean de Luz was day 4 instead of 2.

We were driven the relative short distance from near the Sea to near the Mountains. Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, St-Jean Pied de Port a common last French stop before crossing the border with Spain.
The Martin Sheen movie "The Way" started here.
Sports play an active part of villages. In my photos to the left, you'll see a Rugby pitch (or field) which is very popular in this part of France, and a Fronton with stadium seating - a variation of what I know as Jai Alai
Near Spanish border
This is the most popular starting point for a Camino - a journey for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostels. There are actually many routes - I learned first of them just south of Zurich, Switzerland. Last November there was another route passing through Gdansk, Poland- that would be a long journey. Next big stop on this variation is Pamplona. Our tour began on final day there of the 'Running of the Bulls'.
