Two reasons to arrive a few days early
Short train ride to
Saint-Jean de Luz

South of Biarritz, closer to Spain, a train station serves two towns - one on south side of harbor - Ciboure and north is the larger Sain-Jean de Luz.

Very pedestrian friendly.  I spent most a day here before the tour.  We stopped on the tour here for an hour or so, en route to San Sebastian, Spain.

Had a huge "boat" of shellfish for lunch at

La Ruelle.

Short bus ride to Biarritz

A resort town with a combination of sandy beaches, rugged shoreline, and streets and lanes to wander up and down.  The market Les Halles is a fun place to begin the journey.

Be sure to start with a brownie from the Milwaukee Cafe - operated by an American woman.  Range of food options makes choosing difficult.  I ended up eating Italian in France - - just 'cuz I was hungry NOW
